Universities UK (UUK) Chief Executive Alistair Jarvis CBE has written to Dr Jo Grady, General Secretary of the University and College Union (UCU) in response to claims made by UCU on the latest funding position of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).
The letter reiterates that UUK has no mandate from employers to revoke the reforms previously agreed by the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC), and clarifies information both UCU and UUK have received from USS which indicates that without the reforms, the required contribution rate would likely be in excess of 40% of salary.
