A majority of employers responding to Universities UK’s consultation are willing to support the USS Trustee’s additional requirements on debt monitoring and employers exiting the scheme.
Employers representing 81% of the active membership of those employers responding to the consultation confirmed they were willing to support the package of measures, to allow the covenant to be confirmed as strong and to conclude the valuation with total contributions of 30.7% of salary.
UUK, representing scheme employers, has published its proposal to the Joint Negotiating Committee for concluding the 2018 USS valuation.
Employers support concluding the valuation with a total contribution rate of 30.7% of salary – 21.1% for employers, and 9.6% for members – to maintain the current level of benefits for scheme members.
