Universities UK has started a consultation with employers on plans to carry out a review of the governance of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) with independent expertise.
This was one of the commitments made by USS employers as part of the package of measures put forward to conclude the 2020 valuation.
This initial consultation with employers is on the approach to the review, including its terms, scope and structure.
While UUK plans to formally initiate this review, it has written to the University and College Union (UCU) to request their active participation in developing the approach, and in identifying meaningful and implementable recommendations.
Employers are invited to respond to the consultation before Monday 15 August 2022.
