Alistair Jarvis CBE, Chief Executive of Universities UK (UUK) has responded on behalf of employers to a recent letter from University and College Union (UCU) General Secretary Dr Jo Grady, concerning the union's proposal for concluding the 2020 valuation.
The letter confirms that should the USS Trustee confirm UCU's proposal as viable, implementable, and fully costed, UUK will formally consult employers over the level of covenant support they can provide it, as well as their willingness to pay higher contributions.
The letter also sets out areas where UUK questions the validity of some of the assertions made in UCU's proposal.
