On 7 September 2020 the USS Trustee launched its first formal consultation on the 2020 valuation (technical provisions).
Universites UK has now published accompanying materials for employers, including an information paper, and an advice note from UUK's actuarial advisor, Aon.
These two papers provide analysis of the points raised and assumptions proposed by the USS Trustee in its consultation material, and also outline some of the other component parts which will be important in the considerations and ultimate conclusion of the valuation. They can be downloaded below, alongside a template response form and additional documentation made available by the USS Trustee.
Employers are asked to provide formal responses to the consultation to UUK as soon as possible and no later than by 5pm on Friday 30 October 2020 to allow UUK to analyse and collate responses, and to formally reply to the USS Trustee, as soon as practicable following the closing date. Responses should sent to pensions@universitiesuk.ac.uk.
